swallows

The swallow (Andorinha) is one of the most famous Portuguese symbols. Made of ceramic, black or painted in various colors, the swallow is today an icon of national folklore and a decorative element present in many homes.
In the Gazete Azulejos studio, the wall presenting all the azulejos is also decorated with small Andorinhas.
Through my mosaic, I give kind of an abstract view of the interior of the workshop, where the tiles are a mixture of broken azulejos together with specially painted ones, then arranged in Trencadis in a random geometric way.
